LAForum 2019 Fall Newsletter “On Listening”
As designers, workers, educators, and citizenry we are more often being asked to listen. As professionals and amateurs alike we’re asked to listen to our comrades and to our stakeholders, also to the voiceless. We want to honor these requests and use our mouthpiece—our publications—towards a quieter space of consideration: an index finger to the lips.
The Fall 2019 Newsletter “On Listening” will include texts and interviews by practitioners who listen for a living: Translators, musicologists, critics, urbanists, and others. A limited-edition of the Newsletter contains an LP record that serves as a listening tool to reconnect us to the city. When we take out the earbuds, silence the podcast, and get out of the car—this is L.A. all around us.
